A gold-buckled cowboy falls hard for his orthopedic surgeon in this carnal escape.

Barely 30 and already washed up, rodeo cowboy Jay Turner has nothing to show for his 12-year career except a few gold buckles and a busted-up knee. The very last thing he needs is career advice from his orthopedic surgeon, a chilly woman who obviously has never been thrown off a bucking bronco. Instead, Jay decides to lasso the beautiful lady doc with an intimate proposition. Dr. Helen Kinsale’s own fast-track career is hanging by a thread as past mistakes and her ex-husband are threatening her professional reputation. When Jay offers a no-holds-barred affair, she eagerly accepts the erotic escape from her narrow world. But the affair quickly turns into something else as they discover a dark sexual compatibility that leads them into new erotic situations and extreme sensations.

5Roping the Wind- A Joyfully Recommended Title   Aug 07, 2008
Jay Turner's life was all about the rodeo, until one final accident permanently damages his knee and takes him out of professional competition. Six months later, the former cowboy has no job, no prospects, and no plans for his future. The last thing he wants to do is have another check up with his ice queen of a doctor. Dr. Helen Kinsale is just about as thrilled to see her most irritating patient once again. Neither likes the other. Neither thinks they have anything in common. Until a heated encounter leaves both parties breathless and wanting more. A delicious deal is struck: Helen will give up sexual control to Jay and he, in turn, will show her pleasure beyond her wildest dreams.

Yet things are never as simple as they seem. Helen's brilliant career is at risk and her past threatens to ruin her professional advancement. Jay is still at loose ends and is struggling to adapt to life outside the rodeo circuit. Their affair may provide the perfect erotic escape for the moment, but with no promises to bind them, is fleeting pleasure all there is? Or as Jay and Helen learn more about each other and their emotions begin to deepen, will love be within their grasp?

Prepare to blast those fans and turn up the A/C, because Roping the Wind is scorching! Kate Pearce delivers an erotic tale that is not only sexy, but endearing. Jay and Helen are two wonderfully developed characters whom I fell in love with from the start. On the outside, the two seem to be complete opposites. I was delighted to watch them not only fall in love, but discover that, underneath the fronts they put on for the world, they are quite similar. I was fascinated to watch the life of a San Francisco Cowboy blend with the life of a surgeon burdened by the politics of career advancement. I practically devoured this tale, so engrossed in Ms. Pearce's book that I, unfortunately, snarled at someone who had the misfortune to interrupt my reading.

Roping the Wind is unquestionably blazing-hot and filled with erotic moments. That being said, I was impressed the love scenes never felt gratuitous or repetitive. Each one was incredibly sexy and subtly provided me with insight into the growth of Jay and Helen's relationship. I admit, I was wary when Helen agreed to give up complete sexual control to Jay. Ms. Pearce quickly assuaged my fears. Jay never abuses the trust Helen puts in him and their relationship is always equal.

Roping the Wind is loosely connected to Ms. Pearce's Where Have all the Cowboys Gone? I enjoyed the latter and was both delighted and intrigued to read about Jay's half-brother Grayson before he gave up his corporate suits for his Stetson. Both books, however, can be read as stand-alones.

I Joyfully Recommend Roping the Wind. It's incredibly sexy, entertaining, and at the same timesurprisingly sweet. I have never particularly had a thing for cowboy heroes, but Ms. Pearce left me wanting a Jay of my own. I sincerely hope she writes about more Turner siblings; I'll be racing to read to read those books if she does. For now, I'll just turn up that A/C, pick up Roping the Wind, and fall in love with Jay and Helen all over again.

4Roping the Wind lassos this reader!  Feb 18, 2008
Dr. Helen Kinsale treated rodeo cowboy Jay Turner six months ago when he had his career ending injury. Meeting her in her office again one day, Jay is intrigued by the cool lady doctor who he suspects has some fire underneath. Jay intends to challenge her with an intimate proposal that will have them very up close and personal. She accepts, and their no-holds barred affair soon turns into something neither expects.

Helen has worked her way up the ladder to the point she's now being considered for a top position at the hospital she works for. However, deep in her past lies some secrets which might prove explosive. Add in a cruel ex-husband who'll do anything to get the position Helen is after, well, a dalliance with Jay just might be the distraction a doctor would order. After all, it's just sex, right? No commitment, no future...

Helen and Jay are connected by the rodeo, but their lives are otherwise disparate. Jay is trying to struggle with a life after the rodeo, while Helen is coping with the competitiveness of her colleagues as they all vie for a position. As ROPING THE WIND opens, we don't know Helen and Jay, but by the end, we will care for them and their future. We get a glimpse of life in San Francisco blended with the life of a rodeo cowboy and the inner workings of hospital politics. Even as readers wonder how Helen and Jay will come together (and I don't just mean sex), a sensual and beautiful story is told by author Kate Pearce and will keep you turning the pages.

ROPING THE WIND is connected to WHERE HAVE ALL THE COWBOYS GONE? but can be read as a standalone. Will there be more Turner brothers to capture our heart? Readers like me certainly hope so.

The action is fast paced as Jay and Helen begin to grow from independent people we first meet to a couple who discover they can't live without the other. Be prepared to keep plenty of ice around as there are abundant scorching love scenes. Fall in love with this emotionally satisfying tale of love finding a way to beat the odds despite the roadblocks. I highly recommend you run to your nearest bookstore and pick up a copy of ROPING THE WIND.

4Awesome read!  Feb 17, 2008

When rodeo star Jay Turner is injured, his life as he knows it is over. Unable to return to the profession he loves, Jay becomes sullen and withdrawn. The only highlight in his life is flirting with his orthopedic surgeon, a woman who at first, seems to resist Jay's numerous charms.

Helen has a lot of reasons to fight her attraction to the rodeo circuit's hottest stud. For one thing, Jay is her patient and he's younger than she is. Her reputation slightly tainted by rumors that she slept her way to the top, Helen is determined to prove she's the best in her field. An affair with an ex-rodeo star isn't in her agenda.

But Jay's persistence eventually wears Helen down. She transfers Jay's care to another doctor and Helen and Jay begin a sexual affair that can only be described as hot, hot, hot. And I mean hot!

But what distinguishes Ms. Pearce's erotica from others I've read is that, even though the book is filled with steamy scenes, you never once get the impression that any of those scenes are thrown in for exploitation. Each scene has a purpose. They're not only sexy, they reveal characterization and sink the reader deeper into the love story.

If you like rugged alpha males paired with smart, strong-willed women, great writing, and erotic romance, then run to buy this book!
