pocketful of poultry Jun 30, 2008 Great little book for choosing the breed of chickens you want. beautiful colored photos, short and easy to read descriptions of each breed. pocket sized so you can carry it any where. very helpful info. on what each breed is best for,be it for egg laying or meat or showing. I would recommend this book to anyone interested it choosing the breed of chicken they want to raise.
Crazy Chickens Mar 27, 2008 This little book is really fun and, though strictly factual, highlights all the things I find inherently amusing about chickens. Great photographs, brief but informative text for each different chicken breed. If you, like me, are a city girl who wishes she had a pet chicken, this is a fun book!

Nice- but just an abbreviated version of Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds Dec 14, 2007 This is a nice little book, but I was disappointed to discover that it is an abbreviated format of Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds.
If you have the other book, you should be aware that this one is just excerpted text and photos from it. Both books are very nice, but you only need one! "Pocketful of Poultry" is a good "stocking stuffer" - the larger format book has a bit more information and larger photos, so would be the better choice unless you want a small book for some reason.

Beautiful photographs Dec 05, 2007 This book is chock full of beautiful photographs. It has some good solid information, too, but should not be considered a reference book. Just looking through it I am so, so tempted to get more chickens....
Pocket full of information Nov 04, 2007 It won't fit in a man's pocket, but its a great handbook of poultry. I have the large book by the same author, but I would stongly recommend having both books.
