Usually ships in 1 business days | | | | | | Earthy, sexy, and vivacious, the life of beloved country singer, Patsy Cline, who soared from obscurity to international fame to tragic death in just thirty short years, is explored in colorful and poignant detail. An innovator—and even a hell-raiser—Cline broke all the boys’ club barriers of Nashville’s music business in the 1950s and brought a new Nashville sound to the nation with her pop hits and torch ballads like “Walking After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces“ and "Crazy.” She is the subject of a major Hollywood movie and countless articles, and her albums are still selling 45 years after her death. Ellis Nassour was the very first to write about Cline and did so with the cooperation of the stars who knew and loved her—including Jimmy Dean, Jan Howard, Brenda Lee, Loretta Lynn, Roger Miller, Dottie West, and Faron Young. He was the only writer to interview Cline's mother and husbands. This updated edition features not only a complete discography and a host of never-before-published photographs, but includes an afterword that details controversial claims about her birth, the battle between Cline's siblings for her possessions, the amazing influence Cline had on a new generation of singers and, in Cline’s own words from letters to a devoted friend, her excitement as her career soared to new heights and her marriage descended to new depths.

Kevin Morgan Oct 27, 2008 WOW !!!! I could not put this Book down !!! I have always loved Patsy Cline's music. I never knew much about her. While searching through Amazon for new books, I found this Book. I was excited to get it. I started reading it and again, I could not put it down. The main thing I really did get from this Book, was the fact it was not always happy for the Stars. Behind those smiles, people still have problems just like us. Mr. Nassour has really brought all of this out in this Book. The wording was easy for me to read too. The Pictures were Great !!
This is an excellent Book for anyone to add to their Libary !!!Honky Tonk Angel: The Intimate Story of Patsy Cline
The number one Patsy book... Jul 21, 2008 I love this Updated Edition of Honky Tonk Angel! Why do I love it? It's the only book that is so complete in the details of Patsy Cline's life & dreams. Mr. Nassour has updated the book with a lot of rare photos of Patsy and a lot of detail, such as the excerpts from letters Patsy wrote that add a lot more clarity to Patsy's struggle. If you are a Patsifan & a fan of country music this is a must read. It's jammed packed with quotes from many stars and those who really knew Patsy. Not to put the other Patsy bio books down, but this book is still clearly number one and it now has a ton of new information. I also like the new larger size! I especially wanted to refute the "reviewer" who wrote that this is a cut and paste job and that much was left out from the original paperback. I don't know what book this "reviewer" read, but it can't be the Updated Edition. I read the earlier editions and I don't find anything left out. It's the total opposite because much has been added in my opinion.
So much more! Jul 17, 2008 I found so much more in this new updated, expanded edition on Patsy and her life. If you are a fan of Patsy this is the book to get her life story. A good inside look at the music industry of that time and how the woman struggled along the way. It is strange that some have not found the additional information and extra photos. This is a book about Ptasy now the after life (and a later movie). That is something else completely. Her songs will ring in you ears as you are reading. ENJOY!

Beware...this is an abridged version of an Original Superior Biography!! Jul 08, 2008 The author came out with an updated, abridged version of the wonderful book "Patsy". This edited, chopped up version cuts most of the meat and potatoes out of the book leaving us with a condensed, mediocre, sad imitation of the original.
Get the original version. The author has added virtually nothing new here. If he could have at least included a chapter on the making of "Sweet Dreams"...the 1985 film starring Jessica Lange and how Patsy's husband and family felt about it would have been wonderful. Alas...it left me wanting the original...which I go back and read time and time again.

Bob W. of Maryland Jun 05, 2008 I've read all the reviews appearing on Amazon about author Ellis Nassour's book, Honky Tonk Angel: The Intimate Story of Patsy Cline. However, none make reference to his 2008 revised edition of the same titled book. In it you will find new photos, some never before seen. A lot of new revelations which are quite intriguing. It digs very deeply and explores who Patsy Cline really was, through the recollection of friends and love ones.
Previous reviews overwhelmingly rated his original book the best ... 5 stars. The majority of the adult reading public favored the book, and the ingenious writings of Ellis Nassour.
I could say more, but feel the best advice is buy the book. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
No doubt about it, my vote gives it a 5 star rating * * * * * !
