All My Patients have Tales is Dr. Wells second book recalling his life as a veterinarian. His chapters recount the life altering and sometimes life threatening experiences of daily practice. For those who ever thought about or are now interested in becoming a veterinarian, he recalls the humbling life of a veterinary student. However, most uplifting and amusing are his descriptions of helping people help their pets. Let Dr. Wells take you on this journey.

3A Vet with a Heart  May 02, 2010
I think I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if, years ago, I had not read very similar books written by James Herriot. This book is written along the same lines - insecure vet meets contrary animals with insensitve owners - but Jeff Wells does not have the same level of writing skills of a James Herriot. But once I had managed to stop comparing the two vets, I enjoyed these short stories very much, although at times I wished they were not quite so short. The only real criticism I would offer is that Wells does not seem to know the meaning of certain words. He uses words such as 'sneer', 'smirk' and 'leer' quite frequently as discriptors and more often that not, they are clearly not used properly. For instance, when a owner stabbed his finger into an area that Wells had just cleaned in preparation for surgery, Wells said that he leered at him. Maybe he meant glared? He talks about one of his colleagues smirking at his inexperience, and another sneeringly asking him a question, implying a level of unfriendliness that was not in keeping with his descriptions of them. Other than the grammatical distractions and a paucity of detail, I found this book worth the read.

5Mother of future Vet  Mar 03, 2010
My 10-year old loves this book. Some of the words and subject matter are too mature for her level of reading. But, she skips over the parts she doesn't understand. She thoroughly enjoys the book. She wants to become a veterinarian-so this book helps her imagine what it is like. I gave her 3 or 4 veterinarian books for Christmas-but this is the one she has commented about the most.

5Humorous wonderful short stories  Feb 13, 2010
Easy, entertaining short stories for all animal lovers. Some so humorous they bring tears to the eyes even on the tenth rereading. Wonderfully written.

5Must read for all pre vet and vet students and their parents!!!!  Jan 03, 2010
This book was given to my daughter, a vet student, for Christmas. She read a chapter aloud she particularly liked around the holiday fire and everyone in the house was hooked...the next two days the entire book was read to the entire family who roared with laughter as we could relate many of Dr Wells stories to our small farm life - and watching my vet student daughter delight in the craziness he experienced as 'the new guy'.

A must read for all who have pets - farmers with livestock - vet students - parents of vet students - and vets themselves!!!!!!

I wish I could write to Dr Wells to tell him how much my entire family from age 11 to 58 enjoyed his stories, cover to cover......

5If you love animals, then you'll love this book.  Aug 10, 2009
